-
Step 1. Perform Pre-Job Inspection Report
This helps us understand where potential problematic areas are before we start the job.
-
Step 2. Prep Work Areas
We wheel away equipment that needs to be / can be moved, and lay plastic tarp over and around all areas to be cleaned (particularly top of equipment that can not be wheeled away).
-
Step 3. Remove Grease Filters
Filters must be cleaned regularly-usually every two weeks. Steam Kitchen offers a filter exchange program that provides fresh clean filters which are installed by a trained technician on a regular basis.
-
Step 4. Scrape Excess Grease
Technicians scrape heavy grease in and around hoods, all accessible ducts, exhaust fans (including blades) and diverters. If the duct is large and accessible, we usually send one of our technicians into the duct (!). We place all waste into trash bags to throw away (we do not wash away the grease onto our streets. This is the environmentally responsible thing to do).
-
Step 5. Clean Drip Cup
We empty the drip cup on the roof and discard into a trash bag, as well.
-
Step 6. Apply Grease-Removing Solvents
We use degreaser specifically designed for cleaning exhaust hood systems.
-
Step 7. Pressure Wash All Areas
Once technicians have finished scraping any excess grease, they apply pressure washing to all components to ensure a deep clean which is particularly effective for hard-to-reach areas.
-
Step 8. Perform Final Cleaning
We wipe off all remaining grease and perform "touch-up" pressure washing.
-
Step 9. Wipe Down Excess Water
We wipe down all excess water around all components.
-
Step 10. Apply Stainless Steel Polish
Technicians apply polish to all visible stainless steel surface areas. This includes inside AND outside of the hood, as well as the immediate stainless steel backsplash. Most providers do not take this extra step!
-
Step 11. Remove All Debris
We remove all plastic tarps, liners and trash bags and take to dumpster.
-
Step 12. Perform Final Touchups
We then wipe down any water spots on floor and perform final touch ups.
-
Step 13. Provide Proof of Workmanship
Steam Kitchen provides and affixes a NFPA-mandated certification sticker. We also take before and after pictures to document the work.
-
Step 14. Perform Post-Job Inspection
Technicians perform a post-job inspection and then complete a report with their findings. Any inaccessible areas are noted.
